How To Lose Weight Fast With Exercise

Consistency Will Be Rewarded

The key to losing weight fast with exercise is consistency.  It is vital that you set aside time each day to workout and make fitness a part of your daily routine.  The first step isn’t the act of exercise itself but planning.  Some people prefer to exercise first thing in the morning.  Others prefer to exercise before going to sleep.  It doesn’t really matter when you do it, as long as you are consistent.  With consistency, exercise will become a habit and you’ll find it becomes a welcome part of your day.  Fitness will become a part of your lifestyle and you’ll be amazed how easily exercise can fit into the busiest of schedules and how it will help you lose the excess weight quickly, make you stronger, improve your health and you’ll look great.

Keep Exercise Exciting, Challenging and Fun

One of the biggest problems that occurs when it comes to losing weight fast and effectively is boredom or lack of motivation.  People simply get bored with exercise routines and they end up quitting.  According to the “World Health Organization” (WHO), the most important ingredient for success when it comes to exercise is motivation and a commitment to fitness.  Most people who have little to no experience with health and exercise, especially those who are sedentary, view exercise simply as work.  Sure, they would love the results but they don’t want to put in the effort required to shed the unwanted weight and fat, get stronger and be healthier.  To lose weight effectively through exercise, it will take work on your part – it’s as simple as that.  That work, though, can be a lot of fun, a chance to meet new and interesting people and it is vital to helping you achieve your fitness and weight-loss goals.

There are a couple of ways to keep your motivation up when it comes to losing weight quickly with exercise.  The exercise routine should be varied.  There are several ways that you can make fitness a part of your day:

  • Take a brisk walk in a park
  • Go on a hike with friends
  • Participate in a fitness boot camp
  • Lift weights
  • Join a running club
  • Play sports (basketball, tennis and soccer to name a few)
  • Participate in fitness classes such as yoga, Zumba, and spinning
  • Learn a martial art such as kickboxing, Karate or Taekwondo

I highly encourage you to mix it up and try new things.

Exercise With Purpose:  Setting Proper Goals Will Lead To Fast Progress

One of the biggest ways to lose weight fast with exercise is through setting proper goals, tracking progress and either hitting those goals or making adjustments.  If you’ve ever attending a gym, you might start to see “regulars” or “gym rats” as we might call them.  These are people who go to the gym regularly.  If you watch them over a number of months, you’ll likely see that they do the same workouts from week to week at the same speeds, same weights or same intensity.  They don’t write anything down or track any progress.  If they don’t track what they are doing, it is almost 99.9% assured that they aren’t making any progress.  Achieving rapid weight reduction can be difficult if not impossible like this.  It becomes almost automatic or “step by step” when you set a goal/goals, track progress and either achieve those goals and set new ones or make adjustments so that you can get back on track.  The process for setting goals, tracking/evaluating and goal reaching/adjustments should look something like this:

1. Set a goal that is specific (I want to lose 5 lbs)

2. Set a time frame to meet that goal and make it realistic (5 weeks for instance)

3. Measure your progress each week (hop on a weight scale)

4. Measure final progress (goal attained?  Success/Failed)

5. Celebrate success and make new goals or adjust training re-start progress

In the above example, the specific weight loss goal was 5 lbs and the time frame was 5 weeks.  This means the person wants to lose about a pound each week which is realistic.  An example of an unrealistic weight-loss goal would be 20 lbs in two days, that would be unhealthy if not impossible.  So make sure the goal is realistic.  Next, the goal was measurable.  If you can’t measure the progress, how do you know you are making progress?  With weight loss, you can measure in a number of ways.  The first is with a weight scale.  You can also go by how you look in the mirror (not recommended for pound or two of weight loss) and how clothes fit.  I especially love when a pair of pants of mine which are hard to button become easier and easier to fasten!  Next, keep track of progress.  After a few weeks are you losing weight through exercise?  Look to calculate how many calories you are burning through exercise.  You can also track how many calories you eat on a daily basis.  When you burn more than you consume, you’ll lose weight.  After a deficit of 3500 calories, you’ll burn a pound of fat.  A website for tracking your exercise and nutrition is at fitday.com

If you continue making progress and are shedding weight and fat, stay the course.  If you reach your goal, celebrate and then look to set a new goal.  Maybe lose another 5 lbs, be able to run three miles without stopping, or be able to do ten pull-ups.

If you hit a plateau and stop losing weight, re-evaluate.  Maybe you can increase the time you exercise a little, add another day of exercise if you only workout once or twice a week, or up the workout intensity.  If the workout routine checks out, then review over the diet to make sure it is comprised of foods that are high in nutrition but not super-dense in calories and of reasonable portion sizes.

Exercise With A Partner:  Achieve Faster Weight-Loss Results

Losing those unwanted pounds quickly can be even easier when you do it with a friend.  According to the “National Health Service” (NHS), exercising with a partner is a super way to be held accountable, be encouraged and keep it enjoyable.  When you exercise alone, you have no one to keep answer to.  This isn’t the case when you workout with a partner, you really have no excuse and you are much more likely to stick to an exercise plan and routine.

A partner can also be a wonderful tool of encouragement when it comes to burning off those calories and dropping unwanted weight.  A partner can help encourage you throughout your fitness journey and they help you celebrate successes and help you re-evaluate when you have setbacks.  Also a partner can help you achieve progress that isn’t easy to do alone.  As you may or may not know, a great way to burn fat fast is to improve your strength and build lean muscle.  One of the most effect ways of accomplishing this is through weight training.  With a partner, you can lift a heavier weight that you might be afraid to when exercising alone.  The training partner becomes a “spotter” in this case and they allow you to lift weights with a higher intensity.  This leads to increased strength, more muscle and a body that is more efficient at burning calories and shedding excess weight.

Trying to lose weight by exercising alone can be exhausting and sometimes boring.  When it is done with a partner, though, the time seems fly by.   You and your workout partner can chat and keep each other entertained, while scorching through the fat.  Think of “chat while you burn the fat”.

To recap, having a workout partner can be very beneficial to achieving faster weight-loss because:

1. They will motivate and encourage you

2. They can build your “exercise” confidence (such as through spotting)

3. They will hold you accountable

4. They help the workout time fly by
