Lose Weight Quickly at Home With Convenience
The majority of people think that it requires an expensive gym membership or lots of bulky, pricey home equipment to get fit and burn off the excess fat and weight. In reality, building a body that is lean, fit and strong is just as easy and much more convenient to do inside the comfort of your own home and you need very little equipment to do so.
First let us take a look at why you would even consider losing weight at home versus other options like going to a gym or attending an exercise class. Then we’ll cover how you can lose weight quickly at home.
Lighten Your Weight But Keep Your Wallet Heavy
The first plus about effectively losing weight at home is that you save lots of money. There is no need to get into a “nearly impossible to break” gym contract. Also, the cost of gym memberships continue to skyrocket, mainly due to insurance premiums the gym has to pay but also because of the services they offer. The majority of these “add-on” services are a waste and unlikely to be used. For instance, gym membership fees may be comprised of the costs for childcare services if they have a nursery, senior exercise classes or even pool/basketball court upkeep. If you don’t have kids, aren’t a senior citizen or don’t plan on using the pool or basketball court then that is money flying out of your pockets.
No Distractions, Only Calorie Burning Here
By working out at home, you keep distractions at bay. This will keep workouts focused, short and on track. Your primary goal when working out should be shedding as many calories as possible and not chatting with others about the latest fashions or something you saw on television. That is the sole reason my wife stays away from the gym and exercises at home. She knows that she’ll see too many friends and will end up talking instead of exercising.

Another great thing about working out from home is that you save gas which equates to more money savings as well as wear and tear on your vehicle. You also save time since you don’t have to commute to a gym or exercise class

Lose Weight Quickly at Home with Body-weight Exercises
There are some simple exercises that you can do at home with no equipment. All they require is your own body-weight and trust me, they will burn lots of calories.
Here are some of my favorites:
Push-Ups
The push-up is great for strengthening and toning the chest, arms and shoulders. They are nice because you can do them just about anywhere. Start out doing a few sets of these for 5 to 10 repetitions. As your strength increases, you can increase how many reps and sets you can do You can also perform incline and decline situps using stairs or a chair. Front Plank
The front plank (see pic below) is a great exercise for building a strong core. Your core is comprised of your abdominals, obliques and mid/lower back muscles. By getting into this position and holding it for 5 to 10 seconds, you’ll feel the burn and melt the fat away quickly. Increase your time in the plank as you get stronger.
Squat Jumps
If you want strong legs that are lean, then squat jumps are a must. These will work your lower body (legs, butt, thighs and hips). They are simple (see pic below) but they will get your heart pumping and they are a super-calorie burner. Perform a few sets of these for 10 repetitions or more and you will jump-start your metabolism, improve your cardiovascular health and your body won’t help but losing those unwanted pounds quickly.
Some other great exercises that require virtually no equipment that you can do at home include:
- Abdominal crunches
- Downward-facing dog (a full-body yoga movement)
- Supermans (targets your back, shoulders, hips and butt)
- Reverse lunges
- Jump roping
- Body-weight squats
- Calf raises
- Chair dips
The Internet is a great source on how to do the above exercises if you aren’t sure how to and to find even more. By performing a few exercise sessions a week utilizing the exercises above, you’ll improve your strength, decrease your body-fat, improve your power, improve your speed and flexibility/range of motion. Oh, and you will lose weight quickly!
Lose Weight Quickly at Home with Workout DVDs
There are some amazing workout DVDs out there on the market that you can buy and use in the quiet and convenience of your home. Although there is an initial investment, over the long run, they are well worth the small cost as they can greatly aid in improving your health and making you look and feel great. Some of my favorite workout DVDs for burning fat and shedding the weight are:

- P90X (my favorite!)
- Tight on Time: Hot Spots with Tamilee Webb
- Get Ripped: Slim& Lean with Jari Love
- Billy Blank’s Boot Camp
There are tons more to choose from, of course. Workout DVDs can be nice in that they give a set time frame for a workout. They also can add a little motivation to a workout since it is like having a personal trainer in your own home. If you have little to no exercise experience, workout DVDs are great because they will walk you through a workout from warm-up to cool-down. So you not only get a great home workout and burn lots of calories but you learn a lot about fitness and how to properly perform exercises. Some will also offer good advice on nutrition and how to lower stress. Stuff that you’d have to pay big money for with a personal trainer. My favorite, P90X, is great because it has a progressive plan that takes you from a beginner and as you progress it increases its difficulty/challenge so that you don’t get bored and ensures that you lose weight as quickly and efficiently as possible while carving out your best body possible.
Lose Weight Quickly at Home with No Roadblocks
The only thing that stands in the way of creating a body at home that you can be proud of is your own desire and determination. If you have the motivation, the tools exist to help you lose weight fast, burn the fat and get strong at home.
I leave you with an example workout that you can do at home with the body-weight exercises discussed above. You follow it and you’ll be sure to build a healthier, more fit you in no time:
- Stretch/Warm-up for 5-10 minutes
- Body-weight squats (10 repetitions, nice and slow)
- Push-ups (10 repetitions)
- Jump rope (40 jumps)
- Front Plank (hold 20 seconds)
- Jump squats (12 repetitions)
- Calf raises (15 repetitions)
- Abdominal crunches (10-12 repetitions)
Perform all the above with little rest between exercises. Completing all of the exercises is one circuit. Perform two to three circuits for an effective fat-scorching workout.
